Mission Statement

The Mission of the Smart Growth Committee is to recommend to Borough Council actions for the Council to take which:

  • Encourage beneficial town growth in many of the areas in which the town and its residents are, or may become, engaged.
  • Discourage/prohibit that growth which detracts, or may detract, from the town’s positive development.
  • Preserve the town’s historic character and integrity.
  • Respect the individual rights of the town’s residents and property owners.
  • Encourage sustainable and environmentally friendly growth.

The mission will involve, but not be limited to, the areas of:

  • Municipal planning, multi-municipal planning, zoning, transportation, business and commercial development, cultural vitality, recreation areas and open/green space availability.
