More… The Borough's Sustainable Advisory Committee (SAC) is a volunteer committee tasked with advising Borough Council on matters of sustainability, as well as increasing collaboration between Borough departments on issues regarding the economic vitality and environmental sustainability of West Chester Borough. The SAC established Friends of Sustainable West Chester consisting of non-voting members working to further sustainability initiatives in the Borough. The group serves three primary purposes: • Create issue-focused teams to supplement the SAC's work on key areas (e.g. energy, stormwater, recycling) • Broaden citizen awareness and involvement in Borough sustainability initiatives • Recruit future SAC leadership Efforts of each team are coordinated by a 2nd year SAC member. Volunteers will be involved in plant selection, planting, and light garden maintenance, and most importantly making sure the infrastructure is working as intended. Participation is contingent on volunteer attendance at an annual training in March, held in conjunction with the Borough's rain garden maintenance provider, and volunteers must sign off on basic rules for participation and a liability waiver. Participation may be capped at 1-2 volunteers per small garden, and 2-3 volunteers for larger gardens. Less…

More… Property owners making tangible efforts to reduce stormwater runoff may reduce their annual SPF assessments through the rebate and credit programs. Rebates are onetime discounts, and credits are ongoing (though they must be renewed every three years). The deadline for rebates and credits is July 31st of every year - following that date any rebates or credits approved will apply to future assessments. Property owners are welcome to appeal the impervious are (IA) basis for their assessment by submitting an appeal application.
