Leaf Collection

2025 LEAF COLLECTION SCHEDULE 

All residents and businesses within the Borough of West Chester are required to recycle their leaves. The Borough’s six (6) week leaf collection program will run from Monday October 27, 2025 through Thursday December 4, 2025. 

During these six weeks, the areas north of Market Street will have Monday and Tuesday collection dates. The areas south of Market Street will have Wednesday and Thursday collection dates. Each neighborhood will have three collection weeks, as shown on the map and schedule below. Leaves are collected curbside only and not collected in the alleys.

Residents are instructed to not pile up leaves for curbside collection until their scheduled collection. The program begins in the Northwest on Monday, October 27th. Residents of the Northwest & Southwest Quadrants, please be sure to finish placing piles out for collection by Sunday, November 24th; Residents of the Northeast & Southeast Quadrants, please be sure to finish placing piles out for collection by Sunday December 1st. The Borough will not collect leaves after the final scheduled collection on Thursday, December 4th.

Leaf Collection Map

Collection Times

The leaf collection crews generally follow the 8 a.m.-11 a.m. sweeper routes on those days as the absence of parked cars lets the collection move along swiftly. After 11 a.m., the crews then attend to the other streets in the area scheduled for collection that day.

First & Final Collections

Residents are instructed to not pile up leaves for curbside collection until the last week of October as collection does not begin until Monday, October 28th. Please be sure to finish placing piles out for collection by the Sunday before your final collection week. The Borough will not collect leaves after the final scheduled collection week.

Leaf Piles

Leaves are not to be placed out for trash collection as all leaves and yard waste collected within the Borough of West Chester are composted. When placing leaves out for collection, please be sure there are no tree branches, limbs or stones in the leaf piles. These objects can damage the leaf collection equipment.

Yard Waste

Leaves may also be placed out on your regular yard waste collection days in biodegradable paper bags.
